When the day comes, the people gather in Nakchu dressed their traditional costumes. Tents of every kind are scattered across the grassland like flowers blooming. day 1 ( )
arrival Lhasa. Flight are not included.

on arrival at the gonggar airport, be met and transferred to your hotel in lhasa. free at leisure to acclimatize yourself to the high latitude for the rest of the day.

day 2 (b,l)lhasa

full day city tour of the potala palace, the jokhang temple, and barkhor street.

- the potala palace: perched upon the marpo ri hill, 130 meters above the lhasa valley, it is the greatest monumental structure in Tibet.

we kindly suggest you take taxi to the top of the palace which costs about 10 and then walk down after your visiting.

- the jokhang temple: the jokhang is the most celebrated temple in Tibet. because the temple is not controlled by a particular sect of Tibetan buddhism it attracts adherents of all the sects as well as followers of bon-po, Tibet's indigenous religion.

- barkhor street: the barkhor is the oldest street in lhasa as well as the center of old lhasa and remains very traditional. it is a place where Tibetan culture, economy, religion and arts are assembled.

day 3 (b,l) Lhasa to Naqju

Today we will transfered from Lhasa to Nakchu to visit the Nakchu Festival.Chachen horse race festival at Nakchu is a very typical festival in Northern Tibet, about this festival, it could be traced back to the 8 century when Gar Family was in power ruling Tibet on behalf of the Kings of Tibet Tubo dynasty.This festival always happens on August every year. Tibetans is a nationaty on horse back, they treasure horses as their friends and as one of the family member, they never kill horses for meat, because they thought horses are the messengers of the God.Nakchu horse race festival is the grandest festival in northern Tibet. When the day comes, the romands people would gather in Nakchu, grandly dressed. Tents of any kind scatter across the grassland like flowers bloom.In the days, such games as horse racing, yak racing, wrestling, stone lifting, riffle/arrow shooting on horse back, and talk - show, show of the art of horse riding will be held, for romands, it is a good time to chat with each other, change goods and buy necessities. And also it is the good time for young people to know each other and fall in love.

day 4 (b,l) Naqju to Lhasa

Day 5 lhasa
full day city tour of sera monastery, trupeng monastery, norbulingka, and visit the carpet factory.

- sera monastery: it is known as one of the three greatest monasteries of Tibet.
it costs 15 to take a taxi to go, however, you can bargain with the taxi driver.

- trupeng monastery: it is one of the biggest monasteries in Tibet.

- norbulingka: norbulingka means "jeweled garden". it was constructed as a summer palace for the dalai lama and later served the whole governmental administration.

- the carpet factory: the highland of Tibet is the actual home of the oriental carpets. by visiting carpet factory you will have a general idea how carpets are produced.

Day 6
Destination: Depart Lhasa
Inter-city Transfer: Flight is not included.

Special Notes:
1. trains running on this line are all specially designed and equipped for the unique plateau conditions. trains are all equipped with fixed-pane windows to maintain the oxygen level, which is kept at least 23 percent higher than that outside the train, and each seat is equipped with an oxygen pipe. each passenger is allowed to carry a bottle of oxygen up to two liters in volume.
2. since the opening of the qinghai-Tibet railway on july 1th, train tickets into Tibet are in huge demand. we recommend you that: fly into Tibet and return by a train. advantages: 1. train tickets out of Tibet are easier to obtain. 2. you still have the chance to see the stunningly beautiful sceneries along that highland track
